((adgklhadlgkshglskfgh I was so excited when I saw ~askBero post about this! I've got like a long list of headcannons for a present day AU Cal =w= Not to mention I've always wanted to do a school AU with him. OKAY READY I'M GONNA RAMBLE ABOUT HIM NOW //shot.
Cal's not the smartest. Like at all. He's actually pretty stupid. It's not even necessarily that he doesn't try either. He's never had an exactly favorable home life; his mother died when he was seven and he and his younger sister were bounced around in foster care. What he can't do academically he makes up for physically, excelling in solely PE classes. If his grades weren't so bad he'd like to be on the swim team. He was held back three times (in different grades) and has considered dropping out on several occasions, especially after he lost his sister and suffered third degree burns in a fire right before the current school year began. The only reason he returned to take on sophomore year (again) is because of the housing.
He doesn't talk about the fire; in fact he seems to act like it never happened and he never even had a sister. He's actually very sociable and easy going. He likes parties and surrounding himself with people, though not particularly getting close to any of them.
He hates the school uniform for more than one reason, most recently because of the short sleeves. He wears a grey bandage over the entirety of his right arm to cover his burns and often will try to get away with wearing a jacket or long-sleeved shirts. That's proved to be harder than just leaving off the tie, though.
He's not a bad guy, just a bad student.
